Cipher Communications Pty Ltd commences
Common Criteria Accreditation for DICA - BlueCrypt
Cipher Communications Pty Ltd a wholly Australian
owned supplier of IT security products, today announced the
commencement of Common Criteria accreditation for the DICA
Technologies "BlueCrypt" ISDN encryption products
- to the assurance level of EAL4.
The Common Criteria (CC) is the most prestigious
and rigorous international security evaluation standard available
for IT & T products.
The CC was developed through collaboration
among national security and standards organisations within
Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom,
the United States and Australia, as a common standard to replace
their existing security evaluation criteria.
The national organisations have worked with
the International Organisation for Standards (ISO) to ensure
that the CC was suitable to become a formal standard and it
has rapidly become the world standard and preferred method
for security product specifications and evaluations.
Certification to the Common Criteria
under the Australiasian Information Security Evaluation
Program (AISEP) requires an in-depth analysis of product
design and development methodology backed up by extensive
testing, undertaken by a licensed Australasian Information
Security Evaluation Facility (AISEF) - in this case
CSC Australia Ltd.
Gaining Common Criteria Certification
will help establish the BlueCrypt product both nationally
and internationally, as Corporate and Government realise
the risk mitigation benefits of using evaluated products.
